Rendezvous Upper Elementary School
RUES 4th and 5th graders started a garden from scratch with the help of FCE in the spring of 2013. In doing so, they learned about soil fertility, vermiposting, and essential strategies for high altitude gardening. After a brief hiatus, Full Circle returned to the 4th and 5th grade classrooms in the Spring of 2016. 5th graders combined classroom growing experiments with their plant cell unit, studying the effects of sunlight energy, soil, and water on plant growth. Thanks to a generous grant from Silverstar Communications, 4th graders were able to expand on their ecosystems studies by building classroom worm bins (vermiculture), and visiting local closed-system farms.
